On Jeremiah Smith as a player:
“Theres times where he’s double covered and the ball still goes his way. He just has that kind of an impact. He's just an ultra competitor. It our job to try to figure that out. In terms of his attitude, he just wants to win. But he wants to make an impact on the game”
“There's receivers out there that I've been around, not many here, but just in general, where it’s all about them and all about their touches. That's not the way Jeremiah is. The number one goal is to win and he's a team player. “
On what he wants to see against Iowa:
“Well, when you're playing against a team like this, you got to show up and you got to swing from the 1st punch and you got to play all the way for 4 quarters.“
“We're looking for a bunch of guys that are going on a road that are going to play as hard as they possibly can, as tough as they possibly can and executed a high level with great focus for 60 minutes. And we can get back on that plane with a win and come back here. It's gonna put a lot of momentum for the season.”

“We played in the biggest moments, so there’s not a bigger moment than what we played in 2 years ago. So, there's no reason to get out there and be anxious or stressed. And when you have guys around you that you can trust and who’ve you played a lot of reps with, the game becomes easier and it slows down.”
Discussing the O-Line:
“I think we have a lot of guys on the offensive line that are going to be NFL players”
Luke Montgomery discussing the defense:
“We’ve seen every front, we’ve seen every blitz, we’ve seen every pressure, we’ve seen every stunt. We have seen everything on the defensive side, so that helps us.”
Discussing the coaching staff:
“Having Coach Smith and Coach Patricia, two guys that were head coaches in the NFL, as our offensive coordinator and defensive coordinator, and having Coach Day and all these other guys on staff here is crazy. We’re so blessed. We have such an amazing staff here that cares about us so much.”

On preparing to face new defenses each week:
“Well, a lot of things are some off-season studies when you’re trying to get familiar. You try to get ahead of things, but when the season comes, you’ve got to turn the page. Good or bad, you need to get things corrected, even when you win…it’s a race against the clock each week. What’s great for me [coming here], if I didn’t have Coach Day, I’d be flying blind a little bit…That’s certainly a huge benefit to me.”
On feeling where he’s at with the team in terms of play calling post-four games in:
“[The feel] is everything to it. No matter what idea you’ve got, it’s the implementation of it, and that’s built over time through trust. That’s why you spend so much time together, [you] try to problem solve things and get an understanding of it because at the end of the day, those are the guys that are out there. I think you can have the best play call ever and it doesn’t matter if we can’t implement it. That is chemistry to me."
On Nate Roberts:
“The guy is continuing to work. Nate’s a young player, and with the season Jeremiah has had, sometimes it can overshadow but that’s why you keep working. Sometimes you just need one to go through the hoop. He scores the week before and makes a heck of a play in a ‘gotta have it’ situation, to me that is how you build trust.”
