COLUMBUS, Ohio – Week Two of the 2026 NFL season was filled with explosive and disruptive performances by Buckeyes across the league, highlighted by Jaxon Smith-Njigba's three-touchdown performance, Chris Olave finding the endzone, TreVeyon Henderson breaking loose in his season debut and Caleb Downs shutting it down in the secondary.
Smith-Njigba Goes for the Hat-Trick
Wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba continued his strong start to the season, finishing the game with nine receptions for 155 yards and three touchdowns as the Seattle Seahawks defeated the Arizona Cardinals, 31-7.
Smith-Njigba started the game fast, breaking free for an 82-yard touchdown on Seattle's second offensive play of the game. The touchdown was the longest reception of his NFL career.
Through two games, Smith-Njigba has recorded 17 receptions for 277 yards and four touchdowns, helping the Seahawks to a 2-0 start.
Smith-Njigba also led all receivers in PFF Offensive Grades with a 92.2.
2026 NFL Receiving Rankings:
Chris Olave followed his league-leading Week 1 performance with eight receptions for 86 yards and a touchdown, helping the New Orleans Saints defeat the Baltimore Ravens, 24-17.
With New Orleans trailing 17-9 in the fourth quarter, Olave hauled in a 21-yard reception to bring the Saints within two points. New Orleans converted on the two-point conversion attempt to tie the game before taking the win late in the fourth quarter.
Olave has 18 total receptions for 268 yards through the first two weeks of the season. His 268 receiving yards trail only Smith-Njigba among NFL receivers.
2026 NFL Receiving Rankings:
Tailback TreVeyon Henderson made an immediate impact in his season debut for the New England Patriots, with 16 rushes for 76 yards and a touchdown in a 20-3 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Henderson opened up the first quarter, breaking free for a 39-yard touchdown run. The Buckeye finished the game averaging 4.8 yards per carry, leading the charge for New England's ground game.
With Henderson back, the Patriots move to 1-1 in the season and look to take down the Jacksonville Jaguars this week.
Down Continues His Strong Start
Safety Caleb Downs continued to make an impact in his rookie season, recording nine tackles, six solo stops, a pass deflection and a forced fumble in the 37-20 Dallas Cowboys' victory over the Washington Commanders.
Downs was very active in the Dallas win, finishing second on the team in tackles. The Rookie has also forced a fumble in each of his first two NFL games.
Other Buckeyes Around the League
Garrett Wilson caught five passes for 57 yards and a touchdown for the New York Jets, while Emeka Egbuka hauled in a five-yard touchdown reception for Tampa Bay. Terry McLaurin added two receptions for 50 yards for Washington and Quinshon Judkins rushed for 48 yards from scrimmage as Cleveland earned their first victory of the season.
