COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women's volleyball team (6-3) earned a five-set (25-22, 25-16, 20-25, 23-25, 15-11) win over Virginia (4-4) Friday night in Charlottesville.

Match Recap
Set 1

Down by three, 11-8, in the first set, the Buckeyes went on a 3-0 run, capped by an ace from Naomy Govou, to tie the score, 11-11.
With the Cavaliers once again ahead by three, 17-14, Ohio State shifted the momentum with a 5-0 run to take the lead, 19-17. The included two blocks from Bailey Nakanelua and Alia Schoonover, a kill from Govou and a kill from Schoonover.
The Buckeyes stayed in control for the remainder of the set and a block by Aneta Valentová and Hannah Jones earned the final point in the 25-22 set win.

Set 2

Two kills from Govou capped both ends of a 3-0 run for the Buckeyes to take an 11-6 lead over the Cavaliers in set two.
Ahead by three, 11-8, Ohio State went on a 4-0 run, which included another kill from Govou and two from Jones, to extend its lead, 15-8.
With a seven-point lead, 18-11, two more kills from Jones and one from Govou have the Buckeyes a commanding 10-point advantage, 21-11.
The Buckeyes allowed the Cavaliers just five more points and a kill from Jones iced set two for Ohio State, 25-16.

Set 3

Down by two, 9-7, back-to-back kills from Govou tied things up, 9-9, early in the third set.
Another kill from Jones kept the score tied, 13-13.
The Cavaliers got back ahead and a successful attack from Govou put the Buckeyes within one point of the lead, 17-16.
Virginia, however, remained in control and won set three, 25-20.

Set 4

Set four was a back-and-forth affair between the Buckeyes and the Cavaliers.
Virginia began to pull away and led the Buckeyes, 16-9. Ohio State went on a 3-0 run, which included two kills from Kalli Jioshvili-Ravva, to cut the deficit to four, 16-12.
Still trailing by four, 18-14, the Buckeyes pulled within one point of the lead, 18-17, after a Virginia service error, a kill from Mia Tuman and an ace from Jioshvili-Ravva.
The Buckeyes went on a 4-0 run, helped by two kills from Govou and an ace from Schoonover, to take the lead, 21-19.
Virginia, however, battled back and took the set, 25-23, to tie the match, 2-2.

Set 5

The Buckeyes and the Cavaliers were tied nine times in set five.
With the score knotted, 10-10, a kill from Jones and a block by Schoonover and Jioshvili-Ravva put the Buckeyes ahead, 12-10.
The Buckeyes allowed the Cavaliers just one more point and went on a 3-0 run to close out the set, 15-11, and win the match, 3-2.

Buckeyes by the Numbers

The Buckeyes are 3-1 in five set matches this season.
Govou led the Buckeyes with a career-high 23 kills. She also added 12 digs for a double-double.
Jones added 13 kills and Jioshvili-Ravva had a double-double with 10 kills and 10 digs.
Nakanelua recorded her third straight double-double with a team-high 43 assists and 15 digs.
Emily Avshalomov shared the team lead in digs with 15.
Schoonover had a team-best five total blocks and two aces.
