Buckeyes return to Columbus to take on Rutgers Sept. 18

COLUMBUS, Ohio – No. 3 Ohio State (5-0-1, 0-0-1) and No. 8 Wisconsin (5-0-1, 0-0-1) both scored late Friday to come away with a 1-all draw at the McClimon Soccer Complex in Madison.

Aaron Hurge put the Buckeyes up 1-0 with his second goal of the season in the 86' with Nyle Waugh getting the assist, his first in 2026.
The Badgers then got the equalizer with just eight seconds remaining on a goal by Matthew Zachemski that nicked the crossbar before tying the match 1-all.
Josué Youta was taken down in the box in the 81' that originally was not called a foul. But after a review, the Buckeyes were awarded a penalty kick. Martin Wurschmidt took the PK but Wisconsin keeper Judewellin Michel made the save low on the right to keep the match scoreless.
Sophomore Martin McLaughlin made his first career start for the Buckeyes. It also was the first time brothers Patrick, Ohio State's starting goalkeeper, and Martin started the same match.
The match marked the first time the teams met while ranked in the Top 10. The teams had not previously met while both were ranked in the Top 25. It also was the highest Ohio State has been ranked while facing the Badgers. The Buckeyes came in at No. 5 in 2024 and downed Wisconsin 3-2 in Madison (10/19/24)
The last Ohio State team remained undefeated after six games was in 2024 when the Buckeyes started the year 9-0-2
Patrick McLaughlin got the start for the Buckeyes in goal. He is 10-2-3 in 15 career starts.
