This is the first captaincy for Schlueter and Garcia
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State women's soccer seniors Ava Bramblett, Amanda Schlueter and Natalie Garcia have been named captains for the 2026 season. This is Bramblett's second captaincy and the first for Schlueter and Garcia.
Schlueter is coming off a great season, which saw her put up 11 goals and earn All-Big Ten and United Soccer Coaches All-Region honors. She also had six assists, which put her at 24 for her career, the third most in program history. Schlueter's impressive total of 78 career points has earned her seventh in program history. Last season, Schlueter recorded three game-winning goals, with one in the 2-0 NCAA tournament victory against Georgia on Nov. 14.
Bramblett has appeared in 58 matches, making 56 starts, over her career as a Buckeye. She has scored three goals in each of her three seasons on the team and has notched one assist per year in the past two years. Two of the goals last season were in the second half of the 3-0 win at Illinois on Sept. 28, the first of the pair being the game winner. After starting her career as a midfielder, she cemented her position in defense last season and is expected to do the same this year.
Garcia appeared in 19 matches last season, including all four NCAA Tournament matches. She recorded two shots on the season. Garcia was a Big Ten Distinguished scholar in both 2025 and 2026.
The home opener for the Buckeyes will be against Kansas in a double header with men's soccer on Thursday, Aug. 20 at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.
