
Two Buckeyes in Top-10 After First Round of Big Ten Championships

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women's golf team opened the Big Ten Championships with a team score of 282 (+2) after the first round of play, sitting in 2nd place heading into day two.
Junior Nellie Ong led the Buckeyes in round one, carding a 68 (-2) to sit in 3rd place individually. She set an early tone for Ohio State with a strong start, recording back-to-back birdies on her opening two holes. Ong maintained steady play throughout the round, managing the course effectively and keeping herself in contention heading into the second day.
Freshman Sophie Eppelstun followed closely behind with an impressive opening round of 69 (-1). Her round was highlighted by three birdies, showcasing consistent scoring ability throughout her first postseason appearance. She sits in 6th place after day one on the leaderboard.
Senior Kary Hollenbaugh delivered a steady and composed performance, finishing at even-par 70. She recorded four birdies on the front nine alone, helping stabilize Ohio State's team score early in the round. Hollenbaugh sits in 11th place heading into round two after a consistent 18-hole performance.
Freshman Matilde Santilli posted a 75 (+5) in the opening round and sits in 48th place individually. Sophomore Mandy Song rounded out the Buckeyes' scoring, finishing with a 76 (+6) and placing in 55th after day one.
Round two is set for Saturday, April 24th, with an 8:30 a.m. (PST) start to the day.
