
Buckeyes in First Place After Day 1 of Therese Hession Buckeye Invitational

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women's golf team is leading the way after the first two rounds of the Therese Hession Buckeye Invitational on Friday at the Ohio State University Golf Club in Columbus, Ohio.
As a team, the Buckeyes opened play in round one with a 295 (+7) and finished the day with a round two score of 294 (+6), putting them in first place overall heading into the final round of the tournament.
Nellie Ong set the tone early, carding an impressive 69 (-3) with five total birdies in the first round. She kept that momentum going in the second round, producing another below-par score of 70 (-2). She recorded four birdies in the second round, all of which came on the back nine, and leads all scorers heading into the final round of play.
Behind Ong's lead, freshman Sophie Eppelstun sits in the top 15 with a round one score of 76 (+4) and a round two score of 73 (+2). She had four birdies in the second round, three of which came on the front nine, and sits in 11th place going into round three of the tournament.
Mandy Song finished day one in 17th place with a round one score of 73 (+2) and a round two score of 77 (+6). Matilde Santilli carded a 77 (+6) in round one and followed it with a 74 (+2) in round two to sit in 19th place. Kary Hollenbaugh shot a 79 (+8) in the first round and a 74 (+3) in the second round and currently sits in 37th place overall. Marin Joyce-Moreno, competing as an individual, carded a 73 (+2) in the first round and a 74 (+3) in the second to secure a 5th-place spot at the conclusion of day one.
The Buckeyes return to action for the final round of the tournament on Saturday at 8:00 a.m. with a shotgun start.
