Buckeyes go 3-0 on road trip
COLUMBUS, Ohio – No. 5 Ohio State earned a 4-0 victory over Purdue Sunday at the Schwartz Tennis Center in West Lafayette, Indiana.
The Buckeyes improved to 17-3 and 4-1 in Big Ten competition. They defeated Texas A&M 4-1 on Wednesday and Indiana 4-1 on Friday before defeating Purdue, going 3-0 on the road trip.
Ohio State grabbed wins on courts one and three to clinch the doubles point and secured a sweep after wins on courts three, five and six in singles action. Nikita Filin and Bryce Nakashima both collected two wins on the day, leading the Buckeyes
Doubles

Jack Anthrop and Bryce Nakashima paired up for the third time this season on court three, falling to the Boilermakers 6-2.

Alexander Bernard and Alex Okonkwo won at No. 2 doubles, 6-4.

In the deciding match, Brandon Carpico and Nikita Filin defeated Henrik Villanger and Maj Premzl 6-4 on court one to clinch the doubles point for the Buckeyes.

In singles, five out of six Buckeyes won their first sets.

Bryce Nakashima was the first to secure a singles win on court five after a 6-0, 6-1 match.

Shortly after, Nikita Filin grabbed his second win of the day and extended his streak of seven-consecutive singles victories in a 6-1, 6-2 match.

Leading 3-0, Alex Okonkwo finished the Boilermakers off with a 6-3, 6-3 victory on court three, clinching Ohio State's sweep over Purdue.

Loren Byers and Jack Anthrop won their first sets and were leading in the second when the match was called. Aidan Kim dropped the first set 6-4, but battled back and was up 5-2 in the second.

The Buckeyes are hosting two Big Ten opponents next weekend at the Ty Tucker Tennis Center. On Friday night, Illinois will come to the Ty Tucker Tennis Center at 6 p.m. before Northwestern will travel to Columbus to play at 11 a.m. Sunday.
