Buckeyes Earn All-Midwest Region Accolades

Twelve Ohio State fencers recognized
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A dozen Ohio State fencers have been recognized by the United States Fencing Coaches Association with All-Midwest Region awards. These awards are determined based on result and field size at each of the NCAA Regional competitions.
Natalia Botello earned a second straight nod on the first team for women's sabre. Gloria Klughardt is now a two-time second team selection in women's epee and was joined by Sally Fan this year.
Four men's epeeists were named to the All-Midwest Region teams. Viktor Kulcsar and Matthew Bülau were named to the second team and Jakob Stange and Ayush Shah received honorable mention nods.Â
In men's foil, Solin Li was named to the second team for the second year in a row. Mitchell Huth was a First Team All-Midwest Region honoree, while Albert Bagdány was selected to the second team and Lorenzo Mion was an honorable mention choice.Â
Carter Berrio of the sabre squad earned honorable mention accolades.
Next week (March 19-22), seven Buckeyes - Klughardt, Botello, Marie-Frederique Millette, Li, Mulau, Kulcsar and Bagdany - will compete at the NCAA Championships in Notre Dame, Ind.
