Spencer and Cisse-Ignatiev clinch doubles, Spencer clinches team win
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 5 seed and No. 10-ranked Ohio State women's tennis team defeated No. 4 seed and No. 7-ranked Duke, 4-2, Friday evening in the first round of the ITA National Team Indoor Championship in Champaign, Ill. The Buckeyes (3-0) will take on top seed North Carolina at 4:30 p.m. ET Saturday for a spot in the semifinals.

Audrey Spencer led the way against the Blue Devils (5-1). She and Sophia Cisse-Ignatiev clinched the doubles point with a 7-5 win and she then sealed the team victory with a three-set win in singles. Luciana Perry posted the Buckeyes' first singles point and paired with Flora Johnson for a doubles victory and Teah Chavez was also victorious in singles. The match, the final of four Round of 16 matches in Champaign Friday, took over three hours. Â

How it Happened
- Ohio State used wins on courts two and three to claim the doubles point.
- The Buckeye duo of Flora Johnson and Luciana Perry, ranked 55th, rolled to a 6-0 victory over No. 29-ranked Eleana Yu and Claire An on court two.
- Duke's No. 19-ranked duo of Liv Hovde and Shavit Kimchi won in a tiebreaker on court one over the Buckeyes' No. 13-ranked team of Teah Chavez and Hephzibah Oluwadare.
- The doubles point came down to a court three match between Buckeyes Audrey Spencer and Sophia Cisse-Ignatiev and Aspen Schuman and Irina Balus of Duke. The Buckeyes broke to get back on serve at five-all, held for a 6-5 lead and then broke again to take the match, 7-5. Â
- A straight set win by An over Johnson on court six for Duke tied the team score at one.
- The Buckeyes answered with three-set victories on courts one and two from their Top 15 ranked players.
- On court one, No. 3 Luciana Perry took the first set against No. 28 Balus, 6-4, but dropped the second, 6-1. In the third set, Perry jumped out to a 4-0 lead. The players traded holds before Balus pulled to 5-3 with two straight games. The Buckeye served it out to take the set, 6-3, and the match.
- No. 13-ranked Chavez won against No. 120 Hovde on court two for a 3-1 Ohio State lead. The Buckeye posted a shut out in the first set before falling in the second, 6-2. In the third, Chavez broke early and held the lead the rest of the way, stretching the advantage to 5-2 and winning 6-4.
- On court three, a three-set win from Duke's Schuman over No. 52 Nao Nishino, 6-2, 2-6, 6-4, cut the Buckeye team lead to 3-2.
- Spencer clinched the Buckeye victory with a court four defeat of Yu. The players split the first two sets, with Spencer taking the first, 6-3, and Yu the second, 6-4. Spencer took control in the third, rolling to a 6-0 win to clinch her match and the team victory.
- The match on court five between Oluwadare and Kimchi was abandoned at three-all in the third set. After dropping the first set 6-4, the Buckeye freshman rallied to force a third set with a win in a second-set tiebreaker.
- Ohio State has won three matches in a row vs. Duke. The teams are slated to meet in Columbus March 22.
