The Buckeyes lost by a 74-61 margin on Wednesday night in Minneapolis.

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The No. 10/10 Ohio State women's basketball team (22-5, 11-4 B1G) fell to No. 23/23 Minnesota (21-6, 12-4 B1G) on Wednesday night in Williams Arena by a 74-61 margin.

Each team scored three consecutive baskets and led during the first quarter as Ohio State was ahead 16-14 after 10 minutes. The Buckeyes started the second quarter with the first seven points and led by a 29-26 margin going into the locker room. The Gophers took the lead early in the third quarter and led by a 53-42 margin after 30 minutes. The Buckeyes got as close as six points down the stretch but the Gophers scored the final seven points to put the game away.

Elsa Lemmilä recorded 10 rebounds in the first half. Jaloni Cambridge was the first Buckeye to reach double figures and finished with 23 points. Chance Gray also scored in double figures with 17 points.

Quarter-by-Quarter Recap

Q1: Jaloni Cambridge opened scoring from the free throw line before each team made a three-pointer. Back-to-back baskets from the Gophers gave them an 8-4 lead and a 7-0 run put the Buckeyes in front by an 11-8 mark with four minutes to play in the quarter. The Buckeye defense held Minnesota scoreless for five minutes before the Gophers used a 6-0 run to take a 14-11 lead. Ohio State scored the final five points of the quarter to take a 16-14 lead after 10 minutes.
Q2: The Buckeyes scored the first seven points in the frame to extend their lead to 23-14 with 7:48 to play in the half, prompting a Gophers timeout. Minnesota responded with the next six points to trim its deficit to 23-20 with four minutes remaining before halftime. Ohio State went into the locker room with a 29-26 advantage.
Q3: The Gophers opened the second half with the first nine points to take a 35-29 lead with 6:41 remaining in the quarter. Minnesota extended its lead to 44-33 just past the midway point of the quarter. Ohio State responded with the next seven points to cut its deficit to 44-40. The Gophers finished the quarter on a 9-2 run to take a 53-42 lead into the final quarter.
Q4: Minnesota opened the fourth quarter on a 7-2 run to increase its lead to 60-44 with 7:35 remaining. Ohio State used an 8-0 run just past the midway point of the quarter to cut the deficit to 64-57 with 3:38 to play. The Buckeyes got as close as six points at 67-61 and fell by a 74-61 margin.

Game Notes

This is the Buckeyes' ninth game of the season against a ranked opponent and the seventh of such games being played away from Columbus.
Elsa Lemmilä tallied her fourth game of the season with 10 or more rebounds. She had 10 rebounds in the first half.
Jaloni Cambridge was the first Buckeye to reach double figures and finished with 23 points. She's scored 10 or more points in every game this season and has 16 games with 20 or more points. Cambridge has 615 points this season, ranking 20^th among single season program records.
Chance Gray scored in double figures for the 20^th time this season and totaled 17 points, including making 3-of-4 three-pointers.
Q1: Ohio State made 3-of-5 long range shots during the frame.
Q2: The Buckeye defense forced the Gophers to shoot 5-of-20 (.250) from the floor during the quarter and did not allow a three-pointer.
