COLUMBUS, Ohio – No 3. Ohio State improves to 12-1-1 (8-1-0 Big Ten) after a scrappy game to beat No. 20 Purdue 2-1 on their own turf.

Sophomore Lizzie Rozmajzl was the star of the game with her first career start in goal. Prior to this game, she had only played career 13 minutes.

Rozmajzl faced some early action, with a killer save in the third minute from a Purdue kick after a battle for the ball right in front of the net.

The Buckeyes kicked off scoring in the seventh minute. Andrea Lu sent off a free kick to the right that was delivered by Ava Bramblett to the head of Nette-Nina Hiltunen who scored the point, marking the senior defender's second career goal.

Purdue tied the game in the 20th minute, with a goal from star forward Jaiden Anderson.

Possession was evenly split throughout the half, with Ohio State getting the edge with eight shots to the Boilermakers' seven.

Britt put the Buckeyes back on the front foot early in the second half, with a long shot from the edge off the box off a pass from Schlueter. Taking place in the 48th minute, it was the second fastest second-half goal of the season

In the 71st minute Purdue was awarded a PK after Hiltunen got tangled with Purdue's Anderson. Anderson shot it to the low right corner but was denied by Rozmajzl.

The Buckeye defense was able to do what they do best and stay calm and disciplined under pressure, facing 14 shots in the second half. Rozmajzl had a clutch first start of her career, with seven saves. Together, they were able to hold off the Boilermakers for the remainder of the game.
