This is the second consecutive season that Cambridge has been named to the preseason team.
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Big Ten Conference announced its women's basketball preseason awards on Thursday. The league's head coaches and media each selected a Preseason All-Big Ten Team and a Preseason Player of the Year. Ohio State junior guard Jaloni Cambridge was named to the Preseason All-Big Ten Team by both the coaches and media with the media selection being unanimous.
Cambridge is coming off a sophomore season that was one of the best seasons by a player in program history. She earned All-American accolades from the WBCA, Associated Press, The Athletic, USBWA, ESPN, The Sporting News and USA Today (honorable mention). The 2026 Dawn Staley Award winner was on the national ballot for the Wooden Award and was included on watch lists throughout the season for the Wooden Award and Naismith Trophy. Cambridge was a unanimous selection for the All-Big Ten First Team by the coaches and media and earned academic nods as an Ohio State Scholar Athlete and member of the Academic All-Big Ten Team.
The 2025-26 Big Ten scoring leader averaged 23.2 points per game during the season and 26.4 points per game during conference play as she was one of only two players in the Big Ten to score in double figures in every game of the season. She ranked in the top 10 in the Big Ten in five additional categories. Among single season program history, Cambridge ranked third in field goals made (305) and fourth in scoring (813 points). She joined Kelsey Mitchell as the only two Buckeyes to score 800 or more points in a single season. Cambridge also joined Mitchell as the only two Buckeyes to score 40 points in a game on more than one occasion as Cambridge tallied 41 points at Illinois on Jan. 7 and against Notre Dame on March 23. Cambridge was the first Buckeye since Mitchell to score 25 or more points in three consecutive games in January (7/11/14) and then had 25 or more points in four consecutive games between January 25 and February 5. Cambridge recorded her 1,000th career point on February 8 at Oregon.
Ohio State begins the season on Nov. 2, hosting UIC. View the Buckeyes' 2026-27 schedule HERE.
