Pair of Buckeyes Earn WCHA Player of the Week Honors

COLUMBUS, Ohio – After helping the No. 2 Ohio State women's hockey team to a sweep of No. 4 Penn State last weekend, Hailey MacLeod and Hilda Svensson earned WCHA weekly honors. MacLeod was named the league's Goaltender of the Week while Svensson garnered the the Rookie of the Week title.
MacLeod earns her first player of the week award of the season after a successful weekend between the pipes against Penn State's second-ranked scoring offense. She finished the series undefeated with a .956 save percentage, holding the Nittany Lions to just one goal in each game. The senior led league netminders with 43 saves on the weekend.
Svensson picks up her fifth rookie of the week nod after recording three points on one goal and two assists in the series against Penn State. Her lone goal of the weekend was a shorthanded goal scored in game one, the team's first shorthanded goal of the season. The Oskarshamn, Sweden native added an assist in both games. Svensson is the only rookie in the country to reach 30 points and 20 assists so far this season. Her 13 goals on the year are the most by a freshman nationally.
