Ohio State men's lacrosse alumnus Ryan Terefenko has been named to the United States Men's National Team's roster for the Atlas Cup set for Sept. 26-28 in Sparks, Md. The appointment was announced Monday by U.S. Men's Sixes National Team head coach Andy Shay in conjunction with the 24 players who will be attending a three-day training camp at USA Lacrosse headquarters from Sept. 23-25.Â
Terefenko is a two-time World Lacrosse medalist for Team USA. He earned his first call up to the senior national team ahead of the 2023 World Lacrosse Men's Championships, where he helped Team USA to a gold medal finish. In 2024, he represented the stars and stripes at the World Lacrosse Box Championships where the United States took silver.Â
The Atlas Cup will feature the men's and women's national sixes teams from Canada, the Haudenosaunee Nationals, Puerto Rico and the United States.Â
The 24 players named to the training camp will be divided into two equal squads for the competitions as the U.S. program continues to build towards the 2028 LA Olympics that will utilize the sixes discipline of lacrosse. In addition to the Atlas Cup, 12 players will compete at World Lacrosse Super Sixes in Oshawa, Ontario (Oct. 10-12).
