Ohio State remains in Columbus to face Louisville Sept. 9
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State (2-2) faced off against No. 11 Akron Friday at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium and came up short in a 2-0 setback against the Zips (4-0-1).

- The Buckeyes settled in after four quick shots by Akron and began to put pressure on the No. 11 Zips during the latter part of the first half but neither team was able to score in the opening 45 minutes.
- Akron scored first on a goal in the 54' by Caleb Borneo. Borneo added an insurance goal in the 77' for a 2-0 lead.
- The Buckeyes had not been beaten at home over the 17 matches prior to Friday dating to a win over Maryland (4-1) at the end of the 2023 season. Ohio State was 10-0-4 a season ago at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium started 2-0 this season.
- Redshirt sophomore Patrick McLaughlin got the start between the pipes for the Buckeyes, his first start of the year after appearing in nine matches a year ago, all starts. He posted a 6-1-2 record last year.
- Against Akron, McLaughlin faced 15 shots.
- Senior defender Nathan Demian made his first appearance of the season in the 73'.
