COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 22 Ohio State women’s soccer team was the better side for the majority of the night against Michigan on Friday but ended in a scoreless draw.
A tremendous crowd of over 2,300 enjoyed the thrilling contest that featured 35 shots on the night.
The opening half was marked by heavy Buckeye pressure. Ohio State outshot Michigan 9-4 in the first 45 minutes, including two on frame, and held a 4-1 edge in corner kicks.
The Buckeyes dominated possession, building cleanly from the back and generating quality chances. Elle Britt nearly broke through in the opening minute with a strike on target that was saved, while Callie Tumilty and Ava Bramblett added dangerous looks later in the half.
Michigan, meanwhile, managed just four shots in the first period, none forcing trouble for goalkeeper Molly Pritchard, who anchored a steady Buckeye back line.
The second half featured back-and-forth action with both sides creating opportunities. Ohio State continued its push as Mia McSweeney, Amanda Schlueter, and Tumilty each tested Michigan keeper Sophie Homan early in the period. Tumilty came closest in the 82nd minute when her shot rattled off the crossbar.

The Buckeyes nearly found the breakthrough in the final five minutes. Tumilty fired a pair of dangerous attempts in the 85th minute, including one that was blocked and another that sailed just left. Schlueter forced a save moments later before Ava Greco’s late surge almost sealed the match. Greco hit the woodwork in the 90th minute and moments later saw another strike turned away by Homan to preserve the draw.
Despite a 22-13 advantage in shots and a 12-2 margin in corners, Ohio State was unable to find the decisive goal and settled for the draw.
