Six Buckeyes Travel to Tokyo for 2025 World Athletics Championships

One current Buckeye and five Buckeye alumni will represent five different countries at the meet.
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Six Buckeyes will compete for their respective countries at the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Japan. Senior Fatouma Conde will represent Guinea, joined by alumni Duan Asemota (Canada), Anavia Battle (United States), Leah Bertrand (Trinidad & Tobago), Alyssa Marsh (Canada) and Oyesade Olatoye (Nigeria).

Competition begins on Saturday, Sept. 13 and will wrap up on Sunday, Sept. 21.

BUCKEYES COMPETING
- Duan Asemota will compete in the 4x100m relay as a member of Team Canada. Asemota is a two-time national champion this year, winning the 60m at the Canadian Indoor Championships and the 100m at the Canadian Championships. He also ran a leg on the winning 4x100m mixed relay at the 2025 World Athletics Relays. Asemota is a 2024 Olympian.
- Anavia Battle will run the 200m, representing the United States. Battle has won the 200m four times in the Diamond League this season. She currently ranks fifth in the world in the 200m. Battle is a 2020 Olympian.
- Leah Bertrand will compete in the 100m and 200m for Trinidad & Tobago. Bertrand is a four-time national champion, winning the 100m in 2022, 2024 and 2025 and the 4x100m relay in 2022 at the Trinidad & Tobago Championships. Bertrand is a 2024 Olympian, where her squad made it to the semifinals of the 4x100m relay.
- Fatouma Conde will run the 200m as a member of Team Guinea. With one collegiate season left, Conde is a four-time USTFCCCA Outdoor All-American (three-time second-team member) and two-time Big Ten Champion. She won the 200m and ran a leg on the 4x100m relay at the 2024 Big Ten Outdoor Championships. The 4x100m relay squad also included Bertrand.
- Alyssa Marsh will run a leg of the mixed 4x400m relay for Team Canada. Marsh previously won bronze as a member of the 4x400m relay at the 2024 World Athletics Relays.
- Oyesade Olatoye will compete in the hammer throw for Nigeria. Olatoye is a three-time national champion in the hammer throw, winning the event in 2022, 2024 and 2025 at the Nigerian Championships. She also won the hammer throw at the 2022 African Athletics Championships and was the runner-up in 2024. Olatoye is a 2024 Olympian.
- The women's 100m heats are scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 13 at 5:55 a.m. ET, while the semifinals (7:20 a.m. ET) and finals (9:13 a.m. ET) are scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 14.
- The women's 200m heats will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 17 at 6:30 a.m. ET, followed by the semifinals on Thursday, Sept. 18 at 8:24 a.m. ET and the finals on Friday, Sept. 19 at 9:22 a.m. ET.
- The women's hammer throw is split into two qualification groups. Group A will compete on Saturday, Sept. 13 at 8 p.m. ET, followed by Group B at 9:45 p.m. ET. The finals are scheduled for Monday, Sept. 15 at 8 a.m. ET.
- The men's 200m heats will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 17 at 7:15 a.m. ET, while the semifinals are scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 18 at 8:02 a.m. ET and the finals for Friday, Sept. 19 at 9:06 a.m. ET.
