Caleb, Eddrick, Sonny and Tegra Named on Watch Lists

The Outland Trophy and Nagurski Trophy lists were announced Tuesday
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Day two of the 2025 National College Football Awards Association "watch list" season is upon us and four more Buckeyes have been pulled into the honors. It should be noted these watch lists grow throughout the season with players added by the respective governing organizations. Today's announcements are for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy and the Outland Trophy. The Nagurski Trophy is awarded to the outstanding defensive player and the Outland Trophy goes to the outstanding interior lineman.
Bronko Nagurski Trophy
Junior returning unanimous All-American SAF Caleb Downs and senior preseason All-American LB Sonny Styles are a part of the Nagurski Trophy watch list. Styles was second on the team in tackles last season with 100 total tackles and Downs was third with 82 stops. Downs has been named to the first team of every preseason All-America team to date while Styles has garnered second-team preseason All-America honors from three of the four organizations that have announced a team.
Outland Trophy
Fourth-year offensive lineman Tegra Tshabola and sophomore defensive tackle Eddrick Houston have each been named to the Outland Trophy watch list. Tshabola will be one of the leaders of the offensive line. He is the only returning offensive lineman who started all 16 games last season for the CFP national champions and is a veteran of 33 games. Houston played in 15 games last season as a true freshman and his 141 snaps on defense were the most among the Ohio State freshman class in 2024.
