Staff are not permitted to apply for both positions in the same year. Both Redcoats and Ushers are paid, part-time season positions at Ohio State. There are distinct differences between the two positions, such as work assignments, schedule, and events you can signup for.
Application & Interview Process
All interested parties must complete an official University employment application (coming soon) for an Usher or Redcoat position. Following Open Interviews – anyone who applied but did not interview, will have their application discarded and you will be able to apply again next year. Applications are not kept on file from year to year – you must apply and interview in the year in which you plan to start. 2025 OPEN INTERVIEWS
May 14th & 19th – 2:00p-7:00p
July 30th & August 4th – 2:00p-7:00p
Ohio Stadium Huntington Club
Interviews are “Open” meaning that you can arrive anytime during the interview periods. Applicants are taken into the interview room in the order that you arrive. Once in the interview room, the interview itself will last about 20 minutes. All applicants have an equal opportunity to be hired! Arriving first to the Open Interviews or applying early, does not increase your chance of being hired. All candidates are considered equally on the same day. Interviews are only available in person on the dates announced. Alternate dates, virtual interviews, or makeup interviews are not available.
The most convenient area to park for Open Interviews is in the West Stadium parking lots along Cannon Drive, adjacent to Ohio Stadium. Paid parking is required using the blue pay-by-plate machines or the Parkmobile smartphone app. Candidates should enter Ohio Stadium through the glass Huntington Club doorway between Gates 17 and 23 on the West side of the stadium. Redcoats will be inside and will direct you to the room where interviews will be taking place. Candidates do not need to bring any materials with you.
If Offered a Position
Following the Open Interview sessions, applicants will be notified via email if they have been declined or been given an employment offer. All notifications are done via email.
Your Employment offer is conditional pending a criminal background check and attendance at a mandatory, in person New Hire Orientation training. The date/time of the New Hire Orientation training will be provided upon offer of employment. All persons offered employment will need to purchase a uniform, complete hiring/employment paperwork through DocuSign and obtain a BuckID. Information about all of these steps will be provided in your employment offer and at Orientation. If you are unable to attend the New Hire Orientation training, the employment offer will be rescinded, and you may apply again the following year. There is no opportunity to do a make-up of the New Hire Orientation training.
