COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State director of tennis Ty Tucker has announced that Tulsa transfer Alex Okonkwo will join the program for the 2025-26 season. He will have two seasons of eligibility remaining.
Okonkwo accumulated 75 combined victories over his two seasons in Tulsa. He rose to a career high of No. 74 in the ITA singles rankings and No 60 in the doubles rankings. As a freshman in 2023-24, he went 15-12 overall in singles play and led the Hurricane with 21 doubles wins. Last year as a sophomore, he led Tulsa with a 23-12 singles record and became the program’s first American Athletic Conference singles champion. He won 12 singles and 12 doubles matches at the No. 1 position and was named an AAC Singles All-Conference honoree.
“We have really enjoyed developing a relationship with Alex and his family,” Tucker said. “We know he will develop at Ohio State and can’t wait to get him here and get started. He has the size and athleticism to hold serve at a high rate.”
