COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State director of tennis Ty Tucker has announced the addition of transfer Loren Byers for the 2025-26 season. Byers played the last four years at Penn State.
“We are so excited to have Loren join the program” Tucker said. “He wants to play tennis at the next level and help Ohio State reach its goals along the way. He’s risen to one of the top players in the country and I know he’s ready to get to work. The coaching staff looks forward to welcoming him to Columbus.”
This past season, Byers earned first team All-Big Ten honors after compiling 13 wins at the No. 1 spot for Penn State. He was 17-9 overall on the year and had three wins over ranked opponents. He rose to as high as No. 51 in the ITA singles rankings and finished the year ranked in the Top 60.
Over his three and a half seasons with the Nittany Lions, Byers has accumulated over 90 combined victories, largely playing at the top of the lineup. He’s a two-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree, a Big Ten distinguished Scholar, a three-time ITA Scholar-Athlete and a Big Ten Sportsmanship Honoree.
The Greensburg, Pa. native earned his Communication Arts and Sciences degree from Penn State this past winter.
