COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Shane Wetzel helped the Buckeyes to wins over No. 15 Ball State and No. 14 Lewis last week with a combined total of 38 kills to land the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday. The American Volleyball Coaches Association followed suit by naming him the organizations' player of the week as well.Â
Wetzel also added eight aces and 20 digs in the 3-1 wins over both the Cardinals and Flyers.Â
Â
The AVCA honor is the first for Wetzel and has been given to a Buckeye 23 times in history. The last to earn the recognition was Jacob Pasteur Jan. 21, 2024.
Ohio State has now won three-consecutive matches against Top 10 foes after earning a 3-2 victory over No. 10 McKendree March 27.Â
The Buckeyes close out the regular season on the road this weekend at Quincy Friday (8 p.m.) and Saturday (6 p.m.).Â
