COLUMBUS, Ohio – Junior Kary Hollenbaugh continued her phenomenal season for the No. 14 Ohio State women's golf team, as she jumped 15 spots up the leaderboard to tie for second place at the Big Ten Championships.
Hollenbaugh fired a five-under 67 in the final round of play on Sunday. It is her 13th round in the 60s of the season. She finished with a 54-hole score of 212 (-4) to earn her best career Big Ten finish; she tied for second place to earn a silver medal. Hollenbaugh led the 90-player field in par 4 scoring; she was seven-under on par 4s. She finished with 12 birdies, which was tied for third-most.
The Buckeyes finished fourth overall with a team score of 873 (+9). Ohio State shot a 291 (+3) in the final round. Ohio State has finished in the top five of the Big Ten Championships four of the last five seasons. The Buckeyes led the 18-team field in par 4 scoring (4.04) and they were second in birdies with 49.
Faith Choi shot her third straight round of 72 (E) to finish the tournament with an even three-round score of 216. She tied for 10th place. She had 11 birdies, which was tied for fourth-most among the field.
Nellie Ong carded a 76 (+4) on Sunday. She finished her first career Big Ten Championships with a 54-hole score of 220 (+4). Ong tied for 25th place. She was also tied for fourth-most birdies with 11.
Mandy Song carded a three-round total of 230 (+10) after shooting 77 (+5) in the final round. She finished tied for 68th place and had nine birdies over three rounds.
Maina Joyce-Moreno shot 76 (+4) on Sunday. She was eight-over in her two counting rounds with a score of 152. She tied for 87th place. She had six birdies and her 38 pars were tied for third-most among the field.
The Buckeyes host NCAA Regionals at the OSU Scarlet Course May 5-7. The selection show will be on April 23.
