COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 9/10 Ohio State men's hockey team lost game one of its Big Ten Tournament quarterfinal series to Wisconsin, 4-1, Friday in Nationwide Arena.

Wisconsin led 1-0 after the first period and stretched the lead to 3-0 midway through the second before Brent Johnson put the Buckeyes on the board. An empty net goal late secured the Badger victory. Ohio State was outshot 34-29, with Logan Terness making 30 saves for the Buckeyes.

The Buckeyes, the No. 3 seed in the tournament, are now 21-12-2 on the year, with the No. 6 seed Badgers 13-19-3. How it Happened
- The Badgers opened the scoring with a Ryland Mosley goal at 18:51 of the first period.
- Wisconsin outshot the Buckeyes, 16-11, in the opening period.
- A 2-on-1 goal 3:04 into the second from Owen Mehlenbacher doubled the Badgers' lead. At 9:09 a Badger shot went over the Ohio State net and bounced back over, where Simon Tassy knocked it in out of midair.
- Shots in the second were 13-11 in favor of the visitors.
- Brent Johnson put the Buckeyes on the board at 4:19 of the third, beating his defender to reach the slot and scoring on a backhand. Thomas Weis had the assist on the goal, Johnson's fifth of the year.
- With time winding down the Buckeyes pulled their goalie. Wisconsin sealed the win with an empty net score at 18:14.
- The teams combined for just 12 shots in the third; Ohio State had seven, Wisconsin five.
- For the game, the Badgers outshot the Buckeyes, 34-29. Buckeye goalie Logan Terness made 30 saves in 59:22.
- The Buckeyes blocked 19 shot attempts, led by Riley Thompson with three.
- Ohio State had two power play chances – both in the second period – and Wisconsin had one, also in the second.
