Men's squad earns fourth straight award
COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio State women's and men's cross country programs have been recognized as USTFCCCA All-Academic Teams, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced. Daniella Santos, an NCAA individual qualifier and All-Great Lakes Region honoree, received USTFCCCA All-Academic Athlete accolades.
To qualify for team All-Academic distinction, squads must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period. For the individual award, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the Top 25 (or 10 percent) at the NCAA Regional Championships or as an All-American at the NCAA Championships.
The Buckeye women's team posted a 3.521 grade-point average, while the men combined for a 3.556 gpa. This is the fourth straight award for both the men's and women's teams. It is the 13th all-time honor for the women and the men have earned the award 14 times.
Santos is one of two Buckeyes to earn USFTFCCCA All-Academic Athlete cross country accolades three times. She is working toward her degree in social work after earning a bachelor's in early childhood education in Spring 2024.
A native of Hilliard, Ohio, Santos made her third trip to the NCAA Championships in the fall and is the second Buckeye to run at the national meet three times and be a two-time national qualifier. She placed 11th at the 2024 NCAA Great Lakes Regional to earn her third all-region award and she is a two-time All-Big Ten honoree. She has also earned Academic All-Big Ten and Ohio State Scholar-Athlete accolades.
