Kirin Kumar’s first competition weekend as softball coach was a success with a 4-0 record, wins over North Carolina Central, UNC Greensboro, Elon and UConn and a no-hitter thrown by freshman Lorin Boutte in her debut performance against UNCC.
Women’s lacrosse opened its 2025 campaign Sunday with a 9-5 victory over No. 15 Denver at the Ohio State Lacrosse Stadium.
The men’s gymnastics team improved to 9-1 overall and 1-0 in the Big Ten with a 325.00-323.850 win over No. 6 Penn State.

The No. 17 women’s tennis team defeated Notre Dame, 6-1, Friday in South Bend, Ind. To improve to 4-1 on the year.

The No. 9 men’s hockey team swept Notre Dame, 5-1 and 5-1, this weekend in South Bend while equipment manager Tim Adams worked his 1,000th NCAA hockey game. The Buckeyes are 18-8-2 overall and 11-6-1 in the Big Ten.

The No. 4 men’s tennis team defeated No. 14 Texas A&M, 4-2, Friday and then Baylor, 4-0, Sunday with both matches at the Ty Tucker Tennis Center. The Buckeyes improved to 7-1.
The men’s basketball team is 14-10 overall and 6-7 in the Big Ten after a 1-1 week that included a thrilling, 73-70, win over Maryland as Bruce Thornton scored 31 points, including outscoring Maryland by himself, 17-9, over the last seven minutes of the game.
The men’s lacrosse team (2-1) picked up two wins last week over Detroit Mercy and Cleveland State by identical 14-4 scores.
The women’s basketball team dropped both games against Top 10 ranked teams in an extended trip to Los Angeles – to No. 1 UCLA and No. 7 USC – but still resides nicely near the top of the Big Ten standings with a 20-3 overall mark and a 9-3 record in the league.
No. 13 men’s volleyball fell in four hard-fought sets to No. 7 Loyola Chicago (10-0) 3-1 in the MIVA opener for the Buckeyes Saturday at the Covelli Center.
The No. 4 wrestling team (13-2 and 5-2 Big Ten) battled, led but ultimately fell to No. 7 Minnesota, 20-17 in a sold-out (4,626) match at the Covelli Center on Friday, and then came back to defeat Indiana, 27-13 on Sunday in Bloomington.

Nicole Grimes led a quartet of pole vaulters at the Ashland University Jud Logan meet Friday, taking first in the open division with a season’s-best jump of 12-05-½.

The women’s golf team placed sixth of 16 teams in its spring-season opening event: the Therese Hession Challenge, contested in Palos Verdes Estates, Calif.
The No. 2 women’s hockey team swept St. Thomas this weekend and is now 23-6-3 overall and 17-6-3 in the WCHA.
