How it Happened
- Making her third career start, Ohio State netminder Genny Klein stopped seven shots in the first four minutes of the game. Wisconsin appeared to score at 4:56 on what would've been the seventh shot, but the Buckeyes challenged for goaltender interference to reverse the call on the ice and take the goal off the board.
- The Badgers scored their first goal on the power play with 2:38 to play in the opening frame to take the 1-0 lead into the first intermission.
- Wisconsin added two goals in the first three minutes of the second to extend its lead to three goals and added another at 16:45 for a 4-0 lead after two.
- The Buckeyes' best chance of the second period came with 2:40 on the clock with a Brooke Disher shot hitting the pipe.
- Joy Dunne put the puck into the Wisconsin net at 6:16 in the third, but this time Wisconsin challenged for goaltender interference and the call was reversed.
- Wisconsin scored its fifth goal at 8:14 in the final frame.
- Ohio State saved the shut out with a goal by Mira Jungåker at 15:58 in the third. The Buckeyes had just killed off a 3-on-5 before a scramble in front of the Buckeye net forced Hilda Svensson to fling the puck towards center ice. Jungåker, who was just released from the penalty box, picked up the puck along the boards and skated into the Wisconsin zone, toe dragged around Caroline Harvey and scored a back-handed shot over the blocker of Ava McNaughton.
- Ohio State held the 36-35 edge in shots on goal at the end of the game and won faceoff battle, 41-28, with Jocelyn Amos winning a game-high 18 faceoffs.
- Klein made 29 saves in the loss, her second most of the year.
