Svensson Earns WCHA Forward and Rookie of the Month Honors

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Freshman Hilda Svensson of the No. 3 Ohio State women's hockey team has earned her first Western Collegiate Hockey Association player of the month awards, winning the league's Forward of the Month and Rookie of the Month honors for October.
The Oskarshamn, Sweden native led Ohio State with 15 points in nine games played in October. Her points total tied for the most in the league. Svensson recorded points in seven of the Buckeyes' games last month, with a WCHA-best six multi-point games.
Svensson scored twice on the power play and on both of Ohio State's penalty shot opportunities of the season. Her first penalty shot of her collegiate career came in Ohio State's 4-1 win over then-ranked No. 3 Minnesota and the other was in the team's 5-1 win over then-ranked No. 11 St. Cloud State.
Svensson earned the WCHA's Rookie of the Week award twice in October. She earned the first weekly award of her career following her collegiate debut against Colgate. She tied for the team lead with four points and two goals in the first series of the season. She led the team with a +3 in the season opener and followed that up with scoring her first two career goals in the game two win. Her second award came after the sweep of St. Cloud State in which she led the Buckeyes with six points and five assists. In addition to her penalty shot, she recorded a league-best four points and assists in the 4-2 win over the Huskies.
During the bye week, she is competing for Sweden's women's national team alongside Ohio State teammates Mira Jungaker and Jenna Raunio in the Lidl Hockey Games, the second stop of the 2025 Women's Euro Hockey Tour.
