Sayin and Reese Earn Weekly Big Ten Awards

Sayin is the Freshman of the Week while Reese is the Defensive Player of the Week
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Two Ohio State Buckeyes – quarterback Julian Sayin and linebacker Arvell Reese – were honored on Monday with weekly awards from the Big Ten Conference for their performances in Ohio State's win on Saturday over Penn State. Sayin is the Freshman of the Week while Reese is the Defensive Player of the Week.
Sayin, a sophomore academically and freshman eligibility wise, completed 20 of 23 passes for 316 yards and threw four touchdown passes. It marked his fifth 300-yard game this season and seventh consecutive contest with multiple touchdown passes. Now a four-time Big Ten Freshman of the Week, Sayin leads the nation in completion percentage (80.7) and QB rating (197.1) and is third in touchdown passes (23). His season stat line includes 2,188 passing yards, 23 touchdowns and three interceptions.
Reese, a junior from Cleveland, registered a career-high 12 tackles along with one sack and 2.5 tackles for loss. He was part of a defensive unit that limited Penn State to just 60 total yards on 28 plays in the second half of Saturday's 38-14 win over the Nittany Lions. Reese is Ohio State's leading tackler this season with 54 stops to go along with 9.0 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks, two pass breakups and two QB hurries. He has at least one tackle for loss in five of the last six games.
The No. 1-ranked Buckeyes (8-0, 5-0 Big Ten) return to action on Saturday when they face Purdue (2-7, 0-6 Big Ten) at Ross-Ade Stadium in West Lafayette, Ind. Kick-off is scheduled for 1 p.m. with BTN broadcasting to a national audience.
