
Klinge Named Big Ten Freshman of the Week

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State swimmer Matt Klinge has been named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week, announced by the conference on Wednesday. This is the first career Big Ten honor for Klinge.
Klinge had a strong outing last weekend at the Tim Welsh Classic. Klinge turned in the fastest time in the 50 free (19.58) and the 100 fly (46.69). Both times are NCAA B cuts.
In the 100 back, Klinge was second with a time of 47.83 and in the 100 free he was fourth with a time of 44.15.
Klinge was on the fastest 200 free relay (1:18.13), 400 medley relay (3:09.31) and 200 medley relay (1:24.86) teams. He was also on the 400 free relay team that finished second with a time of 2:52.73.
The Buckeyes are back in action this weekend with a dual meet at Pitt on Saturday, Feb. 1 at noon.
