COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State rifle team fired a team aggregate score of 4707 at the Hugh W. Wylie Range against West Virginia (4756) and Morehead State (4663). The team was led by senior Derek Keiser, who finished with a team individual record 599 in air rifle while also posting the highest aggregate for the team with an 1180.
In smallbore, the Buckeyes had a team score of 2332 and were led by John Hamilton, who fired a 588. He was followed by Lilly Warren (585), Derek Keiser (581), Ella Sprague (578) and Paige Hollowell (567). Eva Horgan led Ohio State's individuals with a 572. She was followed by Andrew Duross (571), and Nathan Wehrlen (566).
In air rifle, the team fired a season best 2375 led by Derek Keiser's program record 599. Ella Sprague (594), Lilly Warren (592), Paige Hollowell (590), and John Hamilton (588). Andrew Duross fired a 586 to lead Ohio State's individuals while Eva Horgan (585) and Nathan Wehrlen (578) rounded out individual scoring.
Keiser's program record 599 bested the previous mark fired by Rhiann Travis at the NCAA Qualifier in 2017.
Coach Tanoue: "We saw some really great performances throughout the match on Saturday and it was fantastic to see Derek fire a new program record in air rifle. We have several really good opportunities remaining this season to continue to push toward the NCAA Qualifier and I know that the team is in great place to finish the season strong."
Ohio State returns to action for a Thursday match with Air Force and Alaska at the Hugh W. Wylie Range on February 6th.
