
Udo Earns Big Ten Award Following First Career Meet

The Ohio State sprinter takes home freshman honors after opening weekend.
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Big Ten Conference announced its weekly track and field awards on Wednesday with a Buckeye freshman making an appearance on the list. Sprinter Edidiong Udo was named Big Ten Male Freshman of the Week after a strong performance in the Rod McCravy Memorial (RMM) this past weekend.
In his first career meet, Udo participated in the men's 600m and placed first with a time of 1:16.77. The feat achieved history as he set a new RMM meet record for the men's 600m. Udo's time also places him fourth in Ohio State history among the event's all-time leaders, where he sits between third place Andrew Pierce (1:16.73, 2001) and fifth place Marvel Brooks (1:17.18, 2013).
The Buckeyes are back on the road this Saturday in Indianapolis, Ind. for the Hoosier Horsepower Classic. Field events start at 10:30 a.m. with the women's weight throw and track events begin at 11:20 a.m. with the women's 5,000m. More information about the upcoming meet will be announced.
