Buckeyes to Play at Cincinnati in Charity Exhibition Game

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men’s basketball team will play at Cincinnati this fall in a charity exhibition game. The game is scheduled for Friday, October 18 inside Fifth Third Arena in Cincinnati.
The OSU vs. UC CareSource Exhibition Game for Mental Health joins a contest between Dayton and Xavier, which will be played on Sunday, Oct. 20 in Dayton. All net proceeds from ticket sales will benefit mental health providers and charities within each school’s footprint, along with Jay’s Light, an organization begun by Dayton head coach Anthony Grant and his wife, Chris, to help mothers, fathers, teens and young adults find the resources to help with mental health struggles. Their daughter, Jay, died in 2022 at 20 as a result of mental illness.
“We’re excited to partner with Cincinnati and CareSource this preseason for such a tremendous cause,” Ohio State head coach Jake Diebler said. “The opportunity to raise awareness, specifically in our great state, was important to our program and university. The overall wellness and mental health of our student-athletes has long been a priority for our athletic department, and we are blessed to have incredible resources here at Ohio State. Being able to join Coach Grant, along with Coach Miller and his program, is important for our state as we continue to work to have a real impact in our communities.”
Ticket information, as well as a tip-off time, will be announced later this month.
The Buckeyes are 8-4 all-time in regular season games against Cincinnati. The teams met in back-to-back Final Fours in 1961 and 1962 with UC winning both games. Since then, the Buckeyes have won the last four meetings, including a 64-56 win in the 2018 season-opener in Cincinnati. The most recent meeting came at the 2022 Maui Invitational where the Buckeyes won 81-53.
