The Buckeyes start the season 8-0 for the first time since 2006

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The sixth-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes (8-0) stayed unbeaten on the season Sunday with a 5-2 win over Brown (2-4) at Buckeye Varsity Field. Five different Buckeyes saw goal-scoring action in the game, and the scarlet and gray out-shot the Bears 24-11.

How it Happened
The fast-starting Buckeye offense struck first on Sunday, scoring at the 2:35 minute mark on a penalty corner goal. Brown answered in the seventh minute, driving down the field to find the open cage. The second quarter saw two Buckeye goals: one a direct shot on a penalty corner in the 21st minute and the other coming from an Ohio State charge into the circle six minutes before halftime.

The Buckeyes took their momentum into the third quarter, scoring in the 37th minute after a scramble in front of the cage. Ohio State scored again late in the fourth quarter after the ball was deflected off of Brown's keeper. The Bears added another goal with 1:10 left in the match for the final 5-2 score.

How The Goals Were Scored

Senior Hallie Brost struck first for the Buckeyes, tipping the ball in on a penalty corner opportunity thanks to an assist from Anne Marie Krebs. The forward now totals three goals on the season.
Brown answered halfway through the first quarter when senior forward Katie McCallum took charge in the circle to find the back-right of the cage.
Junior Katie Fichtner scored her fourth goal of the season in the 21st minute on a direct hit from a penalty corner. Fichtner has seen goal-scoring action in two straight games.
Three minutes later, Anne Marie Krebs dribbled into the circle to find the open goal thanks to an assist by Makenna Webster.
Brenna Bough scored her fifth goal of the season at the 37 minute mark, finding the back-right corner of the cage. The dual forward/midfielder has scored in four games this season.
Webster scored in the 56th minute, knocking the ball in after a rebound off Brown goalkeeper Kylee Del Monte's pads.
Zoe Lawrence of Brown scored in the 58th minute on a penalty corner shot. Lucy Adams and Mikayla Walsh were credited with the assists.

Today's win lifts the Buckeyes to 8-0 on the year—a tie for the best start in program history.
Ohio State has only allowed five goals on the season, outscoring its opponents 33-5.
Ohio State logged 24 shots on the afternoon while holding the Bears to only 11. Fifteen of Ohio State's shots were on goal.
This is the fifth game in 2024 where four or more Buckeyes have seen goal-scoring action.
