COLUMBUS, Ohio – For the second time in the last three weeks, senior goalkeeper Abby Danson has been named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced.
Danson played all 120 minutes in goal for the Buckeyes last weekend, as Ohio State topped Richmond, 2-0, and No. 18 Old Dominion, 2-1, to remain defeated at 6-0 on the season. She had a .833 save percentage, 0.58 goals-against average and made five total saves in those two games.
In Friday's win, Danson also became the program's all-time leader in career shutouts with 16. This season, she ranks third nationally in save percentage (.880) and fourth in goals against average (0.51). In 351:37 of game action this season, Danson has allowed just three goals.
The eight-ranked Buckeyes, who are one of just six remaining undefeated teams in the country, return home on Friday, Sept. 20 to begin the Big Ten portion of their schedule against Michigan State at 4 p.m. Admission to all games at Buckeye Varsity Field is free and parking is available in the lots surrounding the Woody Hayes Athletic Center. The game will also be streamed live on B1G+.
