COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Chase Center announced on Monday that it will host the Invisalign® Bay Area Women's Classic on Friday, December 20, 2024. Ohio State and Stanford will play in the first game of the doubleheader, followed by UCLA and Creighton. Both games will be televised by FOX Sports with game times to be announced at a later date.
The Invisalign® Bay Area Classic will be a single-admission doubleheader, and each fan will only need to purchase one ticket to gain admission for both games. Tickets go on sale to the general public on Thursday, August 8, at 10 a.m. PT/1 p.m. ET. Tickets can be purchased at chasecenter.com.
The Buckeyes and Cardinal have met five times previously before two Ohio State wins were vacated due to later NCAA rulings. OSU claimed the first win of the series – a 79-47 decision in Columbus on Dec. 28, 1984. The most recent meeting was taken by Stanford, 71-52 on Dec. 15, 2019. The teams have twice previously played on a neutral court.
Head Coach Kevin McGuff led the Buckeyes to their first outright regular season Big Ten title since 2009-10 during the 2023-24 season, finishing with a 16-2 conference record. OSU strung together 15-consecutive Big Ten wins (undefeated in January and February) for the program's second-longest conference win streak in history, only trailing the 1984-85 season when Ohio State was 18-0 in conference play. McGuff was named Big Ten Coach of the Year by both the league's coaches and media. Cotie McMahon was an All-American honorable mention by multiple outlets, while a total of five players were named All-Big Ten.
Heading into the 2024-25 season, the Buckeyes will have a new look as only seven players return from last year's roster following a large graduating class (and including a pair of WNBA draft picks). Former Big Ten Freshman of the Year McMahon headlines the returners and is joined by All-Big Ten honoree Taylor Thierry as the duo was second and third in scoring on the team last season and served as the team's top-two rebounders. McGuff added a pair of transfers in the offseason in Ajae Petty (Kentucky) and Chance Gray (Oregon). Petty joins the Buckeyes after leading Kentucky in scoring (14.2 ppg) and rebounding (10.6 rpg) last season, while Gray led the Ducks' roster in assists (92) and three-point shooting (59 made) to average 13.9 ppg. No. 2 overall recruit and McDonald's All-American Jaloni Cambridge leads the incoming freshman class as the highest rated recruit to sign with the Buckeyes since recruiting rankings were kept.
