COLUMBUS, Ohio – Kyle Snyder fell short of his third Olympic medal Sunday with a loss to Amarali Azarpiar of Iran in the Bronze Medal match at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Wrestling in the 97kg bracket for Team USA, Snyder fell behind 2-0 after an Azarpiar takedown in the first. Snyder earned a point in the second period when Azarpiar did not score while on the clock. The Iranian went back up by two, 3-1, on a pushout.
Azarpiar added another point on a pushout with under 40 seconds left for a 4-1 win to earn the Bronze.
In his third Olympics with USA Wrestling, Snyder advanced to the semifinals Saturday with a pair of wins.
He then fell in the semifinals, sending him to the Bronze medal bout.
Snyder won Olympic Gold in 2016 (Rio) while still a member of the Ohio State Wrestling team. He then claimed Silver in 2020 (Tokyo).
