Women’s Hockey Team Visits the White House for NCAA Sports Day

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Members of the 2023-24 national championship Ohio State women's hockey team were recognized along with national champions of sports across all divisions as part of the NCAA Sports Day at the White House on Monday.
The team was represented by the senior and graduate players from the national championship team, including Cayla Barnes, Lauren Bernard, Hannah Bilka, Hadley Hartmetz, Kenzie Hauswirth, Kelsey King, Raygan Kirk and Stephanie Markowski. The players were also joined by head coach Nadine Muzerall and graduate assistant Gabby Rosenthal ('22).
The event started with a tour of the White House before the national champions were gathered on the South Lawn to hear from NCAA Senior Vice President of Championships Lynda Taeler and Vice President Kamala Harris.
Barnes, a two-time Olympian for USA Hockey and first round draft pick by PWHL Montreal, was selected to represent the Buckeyes on stage, where she stood behind the speakers along with a member from each of the national championship teams in attendance.
In addition to the event at the White House, the Buckeye met with state representatives in Washington D.C. as well.
The members of the Buckeyes' national title team who are on the 2024-25 roster are currently in Sweden gearing up for three exhibition games against Sweden's Olympic Offensive Team, the Olympic development team. The Buckeyes play 6 p.m. CET (1 p.m. ET) Thursday and Friday and 1 p.m. (7 a.m. ET) Saturday. The games will be streamed on the team's Facebook page. Live stats can be found HERE.
