COLUMBUS, Ohio – 2023 Ohio State national champion James Trotter had quite the week at the ATP Challenger in Tyler, Texas, winning both the singles and doubles titles.
The singles win was his first Challenger singles title as he topped former USC All-American Brandon Holt in the finals by a score of 6-2, 7-6(3). Trotter dropped just one set in his five singles wins this week.
The 2023-24 Ohio State Male Athlete of the Year also claimed the doubles title this week with partner Hans Hach Verdugo. This was his fifth Challenger doubles title this year alone. He also won a doubles title last September in Columbus with Robert Cash, beating Hans Verdugo in that final.
Headed into this week, Trotter was ranked a career-high 171 in the ATP doubles rankings as well as a career-high 371 in the singles rankings. Both rankings should climb this week.
