Women's Athletics Excellence Event Returns for Second Year

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State women student-athletes and staff gathered for the 2023-24 Women's Athletics Excellence Event in late April. The night, planned and executed by Ohio State Department of Athletics and Business Advancement staff in support of the women student-athletes and staff, gave Buckeyes a chance to network, learn and be inspired.
The attendees gathered in the Gateway Film Center in the University District. The night started with a panel discussion focused their journey as young adults through their experiences today as a woman. The panelists included Nyah Funderburke, a current All-American swimmer for the Buckeyes, Nadine Muzerall, head coach of the Ohio State women's hockey team who has led the program to two NCAA titles in the last three years, Bri Gazmarian, a former member of the Ohio State women's soccer team who now is the director of digital media, social media and website for Ohio State Athletics, and Melissa Basil, a former Buckeye softball player who is founder/owner of Basil Insurance Group.
Following the panel discussion, the attendees had a viewing of the Women's Adventure Film Tour, a collection of films that celebrate extraordinary women and their thrilling adventures.
At the end of the evening, each attendee went home with an officially licensed Script Ohio ring made by Stone Armory. Roosters provided support to the event through donated food items and coupons.
