Ohio State now 16-6 on the year and 9-1 in the B1G
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 15 Ohio State women's tennis team used four straight-set singles wins to defeat Northwestern, 4-1, Friday at the Auer Tennis Center in Columbus. The Buckeyes, on a nine-match winning streak, are now 16-6 this season, with a 9-1 B1G record.
Ohio State dropped the doubles point but rallied for the victory over the Wildcats (17-6, 8-2 B1G). Luciana Perry, Irina Cantos Siemers, Akanksha Bhan and Shelly Bereznyak all were winners in singles. The Buckeye quartet dropped a combined four games in their second sets to close out the win. Perry and Cantos Siemers also teamed up for a doubles win. Cantos Siemers is now the Buckeyes' all-time leader in combined singles and doubles wins with 214 (121 in singles, 93 in doubles). She also holds the program's all-time singles wins mark.

The final regular season match is at noon Sunday when the Buckeyes host Illinois on Senior Day. The three Buckeye seniors will be recognized before the match. Admission and parking are free for all regular season matches in the Ty Tucker Tennis Center and Auer Tennis Complex.

How it Happened
- Ohio State won the first doubles match, with No. 34-ranked Irina Cantos Siemers and Luciana Perry defeating Christina Hand and Justine Leong, 6-3, on court one.
- Northwestern followed with a 6-4 win on court three, as Britany Lau and Maria Shusharina defeated Alessia Cau and Madeline Atway.
- The doubles point came down to court two. The Wildcat duo of Sydney Pratt and Neena Feldman jumped out to a 5-1 lead. The Buckeyes drew within 5-3, but Northwestern closed it out, 6-3, for the doubles point.
- Ohio State captured four first sets to open singles and all four courts went on to win in straight sets for the team victory. The quartet dropped just 13 games across the four matches, with just four of the losses in the second set.
- No. 51-ranked Perry tied the match, as she topped No. 104 Leong on court two. In the first set, the Buckeye freshman broke for a 4-2 lead and held for a 5-2 advantage. Leong won the next game, but Perry served it out. She did not drop a game the rest of the match for a 6-3, 6-0 win.
- On court one, No. 17-ranked Cantos Siemers won the final three games to take the first set, 6-3, against Shusharina. The Buckeye opened the second set with three straight games en route to a 6-1 victory.
- Akanksha Bhan defeated Lau on court six for a 3-1 Ohio State lead. The Buckeye held an early 3-1 advantage in the first set. Lau got back even but Bhan won the next two games to move ahead 5-3 and eventually won the set 6-4. She did not drop a game in the second set to defeat Lau, 6-4, 6-0.
- Shelly Bereznyak clinched the team win with a victory over Pratt on court four. The Buckeye had a shutout in the first set and won the first five games of set two, finishing with a 6-0, 6-2 victory.
- The remaining matches were unfinished with the Buckeyes down a set in each.
- Bereznyak is on a 13-match winning streak and is tied with Cantos Siemers for the team lead in dual match victories with 13 each. Perry has nine wins this spring and Bhan is 4-0 in dual matches.
- With a singles and a doubles win, Cantos Siemers became the Buckeyes' all-time leader in combined singles/doubles wins with 214. She passed Miho Kowase, who had 213 from 2014-17.
