COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State women's hockey freshman forward Joy Dunne is the 2023-24 WCHA Rookie of the Year, the conference announced Wednesday.

Dunne had 16 goals and 14 assists for 30 points in WCHA games this season. The O'Fallon, Mo. native finished the regular season with the third-most goals in the league and led WCHA rookies in goals, assists and points.

She has tallied two hat tricks, three power play goals and a +33 on the year.

Dunne leads the Buckeyes with 20 goals and is the only rookie in the country to reach the mark this season. With 36 points this season, she ranks eighth in the Ohio State record book for points by a freshman.

The league's Preseason Rookie of the Year, Dunne was twice named league Rookie of the Week this season and earned the Rookie of the Month title for November.

With the award, Dunne becomes the fourth Buckeye to earn WCHA Rookie of the Year honors and first in six seasons. She joins Ohio State alumnae Jeni Creary (2002), Hokey Langan (2010) and Emma Maltais (2018) in the category. Â
