Vetter Wins Beam Title, Buckeyes Take Fourth at B1Gs

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Tory Vetter earned the Big Ten balance beam title and helped the No. 15 Ohio State women's gymnastics team finish fourth overall at the Big Ten Women's Gymnastics Championships Saturday in East Lansing, Mich. The Buckeyes finished with a program-record conference championship meet score of 197.050.
Vetter tied for first with a career-high tying 9.925 on beam to take home a piece of the conference crown. She shares the title with Baleigh Garcia of Michigan State and Sarah Moraw of Minnesota. Vetter is the Buckeyes' first individual title winner since 2022 and the team's first on beam since 2013.
The Hilliard, Ohio native also took second overall in the all-around with a score of 39.525. She added a 9.875 on uneven bars and floor and a 9.850 on vault.
Ohio State finished the meet with a 49.400 on floor, 49.250 on uneven bars, 49.225 on beam and 49.175 on vault.
Savannah Gonzalez earned her first career 9.900 to lead off the Buckeyes on floor. Payton Harris and Ella Hodges also added 9.900s in the rotation as the trio finished seventh on the event overall.
Harris and Nicole Riccardi's team-high 9.900s on uneven bars tied for third overall. Harris scored a team-high 9.900 on uneven bars for her fifth 9.900 or higher on the year. On vault, Kaitlyn Grimes led the Buckeyes with a 8.875 to tie for fourth in the second session and sixth overall.
Harris, Riccardi, Vetter, Gonzalez and Hodges were named to the 2024 All-Championship Team.
