
Late Rally Lifts Indiana Past Buckeyes 76-73

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Ohio State fell to Indiana on Tuesday night, 76-73, as the Hoosiers used a big second-half comeback to stun the Buckeyes.
Ohio State is now 13-10 on the season and 3-9 in Big Ten play.
Junior Roddy Gayle Jr. and graduate transfer Jameson Battle led the Buckeyes in scoring with 19 points each. Battle was a career-best 10-for-10 from the free throw line and has now made his last 34 free throws. Gayle was 6-of-6 from the line and has a streak of 30-consecutive free throws made.
Bruce Thornton finished with 11 points while Evan Mahaffey had eight points, six rebounds, two assists and two steals.
Gayle had a great first half, leading the Buckeyes with 15 points as they held a 42-29 advantage at the break. They shot 50 percent and forced eight IU turnovers.
The Buckeyes would open the half where they left off, scoring five quick points out of the break to build a 49-31 lead. The Hoosiers then started to slowly chip away at the lead with small runs but the Buckeyes still held a 65-53 lead at the under-eight timeout.
The Hoosiers would embark on an 18-4 run over the next five minutes to come all the way back and take a 71-69 lead with two minutes to play. Battle tied the game with a jumper in the lane and would give the Buckeyes the lead back with a pair of free throws with under a minute left. Indiana then got a three-pointer in the corner and a steal on the other end to complete the comeback victory.
The Buckeyes remain at home this week and will host Maryland on Saturday evening, beginning at 4 p.m.
