COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women's tennis team fell on the road at Arizona State, 4-1, Sunday in Tempe, Ariz. The Sun Devils claimed the doubles point and the first singles match. Shelly Bereznyak posted a win for Ohio State but ASU closed it out.

Ohio State is now 6-4 on the year, with the Sun Devils 7-3. The match was the first outdoor contest for the Buckeyes this season.

How it Happened

Arizona State captured the doubles point, winning on courts two and three.
A straight-set win on court four by No. 104-ranked Emilija Tverijonaite over Teah Chavez put the Sun Devils up 2-0.
Buckeye Shelly Berezynak was a winner on court five, as she topped Sara Svetac, 7-5, 6-1.
Marianna Argyrokastr won a close set vs. Ohio State's Sydni Ratliff, 6-4, 6-4, to move the score to 3-1.
Rachel Hanford took a second-set tiebreaker to defeat Audrey Spencer on court six, 7-5, 7-6 (6).
The remaining matches were abandoned. On court one, No. 15-ranked Irina Cantos Siemers was in a third set after winning the second vs. No. 75 Giulia Morlet. Luciana Perry was also in a third set on court two when the match was completed.
Bereznyak is 6-2 this spring.

The Schedule Ahead

The Buckeyes will return home for three matches in the Ty Tucker Tennis Center. After facing nonconference foes Washington next Sunday and No. 13 Pepperdine March 8, Big Ten play opens with a match vs. No. 2 Michigan March 15.
Admission and parking are free for all regular season matches in the Ty Tucker Tennis Center.
