Fawcett, an assistant coach for the women’s volleyball team, has been on the Buckeye staff since February 2020.
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Nicole Fawcett, one of the Ohio State women's volleyball assistant coaches, announced on Thursday that she will be stepping away from coaching. Fawcett joined the Buckeye staff as a volunteer assistant in February 2020 and was promoted to a full-time position in January 2022.
"I want to thank Jen for the opportunity to coach at The Ohio State University," said Fawcett. "I had the privilege to work with amazing players and coaches during the past five years and they all made an impression on my life. The memories and experiences have helped me improve as a person. I am looking forward to the next phase of my life and will continue to support Jen and the program as I move forward with my future endeavors."
"We want to thank Nicole for her dedication to developing this program and its student-athletes," Jen Flynn Oldenburg, Ohio State head coach, said. "She's advanced the sport of volleyball tremendously – as a player and a coach, both here and abroad. We look forward to continuing to see Nicole in Covelli as a fan and wish her the best in her next journey."
In the past five seasons with Fawcett on staff, Ohio State has accumulated a 90-52 record and is 59-36 in conference matches. The Buckeyes reached the regional semifinals in Fawcett's first two seasons (spring 2021 and fall 2021) and then made the program's fourth overall regional finals appearance in 2022 – the Buckeyes' first in 18 years. Ohio State has had four student-athletes receive eight All-American awards since Fawcett's arrival.
