Weekly highlight of the Buckeye student-athletes behind the major moments in Ohio State Athletics
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Week in and week out, Buckeyes raise the standard of excellence set at Ohio State, whether that be in competition, in the classroom or in the community. 'Buckeye Spotlight' recognizes Buckeye student-athletes who had noteworthy accomplishments both in contests and beyond the box score.

Cannon posted a 5-0 record to win the 157-pound bracket at the Cleveland State Open.

He opened with a pair of bonus-point victories with a fall and win by technical fall.

He improved career record to 11-0 over the last two seasons.

Hansen-Bukata, a defenseman, had a team-high four assists and points to help lead the Buckeyes to a sweep of Penn State with 4-0 and 4-2 wins. He was +3 in the series and blocked two shots.

In the opener, the graduate student set up the Buckeyes' third-period power play goal that extended the lead to 3-0. In game two, Hansen-Bukata had a helper on three of the Buckeyes' four goals. He assisted on both Buckeye power play goals in the first and then on the go-ahead goal that stood as the gamewinner in the third.

Saturday was his fifth collegiate three-assist and three-point game and his first as a Buckeye. He is tied for second on the team with 15 points and has a team-best 14 assists.

Junior forward McMahon returned to the lineup and led the Buckeyes to victory in their Big Ten opener against No. 21/21 Illinois on Sunday. McMahon scored a season-high 25 points to lead the game and tallied a season-high five rebounds, adding three assists and a block. She was named to the Big Ten Honor Roll on Monday for her performance.

She was 7-of-12 (.583) from the floor, including a pair of three-pointers, and converted on nine free throws. McMahon converted a trio of three-point plays in the game and even stepped in to take a charge.

This was her second 20+ point game in her four appearances this season as she leads the Ohio State offense averaging 18.5 points per game. McMahon is also shooting 44.4 percent from long range.

Pechota assisted on the final two goals in a 3-0 win over Wake Forest in the NCAA quarterfinals Saturday.

He helped the Buckeyes advance to the 2024 College Cup for the second time in program history.

Pechota enters the weekend second in total points among the Buckeyes with 17 and assists with seven.

He also has five goals on the year for the 16-1-4 Buckeyes.

Ohio State faces Marshall at 7:30 p.m. (ESPNU) Friday in the College Cup Semifinals.
