COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 14/14 Ohio State women's basketball team (1-0) opened the 2024-25 season with a 104-69 win against -/RV Cleveland State (0-1) on Tuesday evening.

Ohio State forced 10 turnovers and recorded seven steals in the opening quarter to take a 24-9 lead after 10 minutes. The Buckeyes led 42-24 at halftime after an 18-15 second quarter of back-and-forth action. The third quarter featured a plethora of offense and the Buckeyes had the 33-27 advantage to increase their lead to 75-51 after 30 minutes. Ohio State closed the game with a 29-18 fourth quarter to win by a 104-69 margin.

Jaloni Cambridge reached double figures with her first basket in the second quarter and totaled 31 points in the game. Cotie McMahon surpassed 10 points with her first basket in the third quarter and finished with 17 points. Taylor Thierry also scored in double figures with 11 points on 5-of-9 shooting. All 10 Buckeyes made at least one basket.

After a game-opening three-pointer from Cleveland State, Jaloni Cambridge scored her first collegiate basket to get Ohio State on the board. The Buckeyes scored nine-consecutive points to build a 9-3 lead with 7:39 left in the quarter and extended their lead to 17-6 at the media timeout. Ohio State used an 11-0 run midway through the quarter to lead 24-9 after 10 minutes.

J. Cambridge made back-to-back three-pointers early in the second quarter as she had 14 of the Buckeyes' 30 points in a 30-13 lead. Ohio State doubled up on Cleveland State, 34-17, at the media timeout following a layup from Taylor Thierry. The teams traded points as the half winded down and OSU led by a 42-24 margin going into the locker room.

Ajae Petty opened second-half scoring with a layup and a 6-0 OSU run increased the Buckeyes' lead to 52-29 with 7:34 remaining in the third quarter. A second J. Cambridge three-point play had OSU up by a 55-33 margin, but back-to-back CSU three-pointers cut the Buckeye lead to 55-39 going into the media timeout. Ohio State responded with a 9-0 run to lead 64-39 with three minutes to play in the quarter and led 75-51 after 30 minutes.
