COLUMBUS, Ohio – Week in and week out, Buckeyes raise the standard of excellence set at Ohio State, whether that be in competition, in the classroom or in the community. 'Buckeye Spotlight' recognizes Buckeye student-athletes who had noteworthy accomplishments both in contests and beyond the box score.
Michael Adedokun | Men's Soccer | Sr. | Eruwa, Nigeria
- Adedokun scored the match winner in Ohio State's 2-1 win over Western Michigan
- The second round NCAA Tournament victory advanced the Buckeyes to third round competition
- His unassisted goal against the Broncos set an Ohio State team record for goals in a season with 48
- Adedokun's nine goals this season lead the team, as does his 11 assists
- No. 1 Ohio State will play host to No. 16 Stanford at 5 p.m., Dec. 1 at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium
- Ranked No. 11 nationally at 197 pounds, Luke Geog improved to 7-1 Sunday in dual vs. Hofstra
- Geog, 3-0 in duals this year, defeated Nik Miller of Hofstra by technical fall, 15-0
- Needed less than three minutes to earn the Buckeyes five team points in Ohio State's 38-6 win
- Geog and the Buckeyes will next compete at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invite Dec. 6-7
- Jahn took down a 10-year record during the Ohio State Fall Invitational last week. During Saturday's finals, he swam an NCAA B standard time of 1:40.66 in the 200 back, setting a new school record. The previous record of 1:40.74 was set by Connor McDonald in 2014. Jahn placed third overall in the event.
- Jahn placed seventh in the A final of the 100 back with an NCAA B cut of 46.15.
- He was on the 400 medley relay team that placed third with a time of 3:06.59 and on the 800 free relay team that placed fourth with a time of 6:23.70.
- Freshman center Elsa Lemmilä had a standout game at Ohio this past week as she earned her first collegiate double-double.
- Lemmilä led the game with career-highs in points (21), rebounds (14) and blocks (5) with her rebound and block numbers being the most by any Buckeye this season.
- This season, Lemmilä is averaging 7.6 points and a team-high 7.8 rebounds per game in 18.8 minutes per game off the bench.
- Perry made a run to the quarterfinals at the NCAA Singles Championship last week in Waco, Texas.
- The sophomore captured her second All-America honor after advancing to the Round of 16 for the second straight year. She is the first Buckeye to advance to the third round twice.
- She was the second Buckeye, and first since Kristy Dascoli in 2001, to reach the quarterfinals.
- Perry posted three-set wins in the first two rounds before a straight-set victory in the third round.
- Sophomore forward Amanda Schluter had a goal and an assist in the Buckeyes' 2-1 victory over Auburn in the second round of the NCAA Tournament last Friday.
- The goal turned out to be the game-winning goal and what a goal it was as she headed it past the keeper who hit her in the face with her hands.
- The assist was her 12th of the season which tied the program record for most assists in a season.
- She finished the year with career-highs of 10 goals, 12 assists and 32 points
- Freshman outside hitter Emmi Sellman garnered her first Big Ten weekly award of the season as she was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week on Monday after big performances in wins against RV Washington and Indiana this past weekend.
- Sellman averaged 3.63 kills/set, 1.88 digs/set and 0.50 blocks/set last week. In the sweep of Washington, Sellman finished with 10 kills, six digs, a pair of aces and a block. In the win against Indiana, she totaled 19 kills, nine digs and three blocks. In the fifth set, Sellman was a perfect 5-of-5 to help the team to a .833 hitting percentage in the set. She had a hand in all four points to end the match, including recording the kill on match point.
- This season, Sellman is second on the Buckeyes' roster with 2.97 kills/set and is also averaging 1.58 digs/set despite missing preseason training and the non-conference schedule with an injury.
- Gabriella led the 11th-ranked rifle team at UTEP this weekend as she fired a career-best aggregate score of 1181.
- On Saturday, she finished second in the smallbore (584) and first in the air rifle (597). A day later, on Sunday, she totaled a 583 in the smallbore and 597 in the air rifle.
- The Buckeyes concluded their fall season with a three-score average of 4711 and are back in action after the new year when they face TCU Jan. 19-20.
